Energy has become one of the most important matters in international relations for the last decade. As far as it is thought as the inevitable input of the industrial production process, energy stays on the sensitive point of the economies of the countries. Same sensitivity is valid for Turkey which is between energy rich East and high energy demanded West. Particularly the subject of energy security, which is identified as supply of energy in reasonable price, requested amount and in reasonable time for delivery, is a particular concern to countries like Turkey which supplies most of their energy needs via import. The potential issues about ensuring energy security could reach a level that may influence those countries’ macroeconomic equilibrum. As far as it is considered that the increasing energy demand of the economies such as Turkey, it is also vital to reach the enegry under the demanded circumstances. Due to the mentioned reason, Turkey deals with the energy matter seriously and prepares all-purpose long and short term plans in order to fullfil the energy security requirements also realize these plans fastly as well. It is not only threats the energy security but also national security if these long and short term plans fail. Developments that may emerge in a situation where these strategies and policies fail could reach to an extent that threatens national security. There is a direct correlation between energy security and national security.This article tries to explain how the energy security subject could turn into a national security problem.
