Publication Ethics and Misconduct Statement
Peer-reviewed studies are endeavors that concretize and support the scientific method. At this point, it is essential for all stakeholders in the process to adhere to ethical standards. The ethical duties and responsibilities stated in this text are prepared based on the "COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The ethical duties and responsibilities listed below are prepared based on the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) with consideration of open access.
Editorial Responsibilities
Editors of Karadeniz International Scientific Journal must adhere to the "COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in the context of publication ethics.
Authors' Ethical Responsibilities
- Submissions must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal for consideration. Each submission can be initiated only after the completion of the previous submission. A work published in another journal cannot be submitted to the Karadeniz International Scientific Journal.
- Authors must accurately and completely cite and reference the work and studies they benefit from or use.
- Authors are expected to disclose any conflicts of interest or relationships that may constitute conflicts of interest in the evaluation process.
- Upon request, authors may be asked to provide raw data related to their articles within the framework of the evaluation processes; in such cases, authors must be ready to provide the required data and information to the editorial board.
- Authors must have the necessary permissions for the use of data, research/measurement tools/analyses used in their studies and provide evidence that they have the right to use them. The required documents such as documents requested from authors, data, ethical committee report, etc. cannot be uploaded to the system before the article is published.
- If authors notice any errors or mistakes in their published, early-view, or pre-evaluation work, they are obligated to inform the journal editor or publisher, and cooperate with the editor in correction or retraction processes.
Reviewers' Ethical Responsibilities
Reviewers for Karadeniz International Scientific Journal should only agree to review works related to their field of expertise. These reviewers are carefully selected by the editorial board of field editors. Due to the double-blind review process, reviewers and authors do not know each other, and even if possible, they cannot disclose each other's identities. In this case, the referee should reject the article.
- Reviewers for Karadeniz International Scientific Journal must conduct evaluations in an unbiased and confidential manner.
- Reviewers who believe they are faced with a conflict of interest during the evaluation process should decline the review of the work and inform the journal editor.
- Reviewers for Karadeniz International Scientific Journal must destroy the works they have reviewed after the evaluation process in accordance with the principle of confidentiality. They can only use the final form of the reviewed works after they have been published.
- Reviewers should objectively evaluate the work solely based on its content. Nationality, gender, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and commercial concerns should not influence the evaluation.
- Reviewers should use a respectful tone in their evaluations. They should refrain from using derogatory personal comments containing hostility, defamation, and insults. Reviewers who exhibit such behavior will not be assigned again.

- Each author must have contributed to the content and results of the work. Authorship order and contributions should be clearly stated.
- All authors should approve the submission for publication.
- Financial support or contributions made to the work should be stated.
- Authors are responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the work.
- Authors must declare whether the work has been previously published elsewhere.
Retraction Policy
- If authors consider withdrawing their manuscript after submission, they should immediately inform the editor.
- Requests for withdrawal after publication can only be accepted under serious ethical or error circumstances.
Corrections and Feedback
- Editors should respect the feedback of reviewers and authors.
- Corrections should be made based on reviewer and author opinions.
- Authors should make corrections promptly and thoroughly.
Errors in Publishing
- Editors and publishers should take necessary steps to correct identified errors.
- Corrected texts should be published when needed and explained.
- Errors in published articles and their corrections should be clearly communicated to readers.
