In the recent years, it needs to have some changes on views about science education and educational programmes, because of the big acceleration on scientific knowledge and the requirements occured by very rapid technological developments. By the renovated science and technology education programme, scientific process skills, science-technologysoceity relations and its importance is became cleared. The new programme is designed overall on the base of constructivist approach and inquiry. Learning areas, objectives, unit and subject contents, assessment and evaluation techniques are constituted in terms of constuctivism. By the way, for assessment; as being very important part of learning and education, process based assessment methods are included-instead of traditional learning outcomes based approaches. This article is a compilation study where the importance of performance based asessment and the usage of rubrics is emphasized. The necessity of determination of the performance objectives and subjects are mentioned, in order to make a performance based asessment, In addition, rubrics designed for evaluating and scoring of performance, are explained with examples and suggestions are made. Ultimately, the advantages and limited aspects ofperformance based assessment are mentioned.
