Seyfettin Dağlı is a famous humor master of Azerbaijan. His literary works focus upon social events he observed in his life and criticize shortcomings of social life through humor. Humor is a dominant factor in Seyfettin Dağlı’s soul. Therefore his articles, stories, comedies and novels criticize the disorderliness of social life such as corruption and deceitfulness. For him, humor is the most important factor in brightening and solving problems, and the symbol of criticism of shortcomings in society. According to the author, laughing is a sign of well being. He makes you laugh and meanwhile makes an effort to correct deficiencies occurring in life, for his sole purpose is to serve his people and warn them adversities in life. The author wrote many comedies such as “Adı Senin, Dadı Menim” (“Name is Yours, Taste is Mine"), “Aydınlığa Doğru” ("Towards The Light"), “Menziliniz Mübarek” ("Blessed is Your Goal"), “Teze Gelin” ("The New Bride"), “Kölgeler Pıçıldaşır” ("Whispers of Shadows"). He also wrote written many books such as “Deniz Keşfiyyatçısı” ("Sea Explorer"), “Bahar Oğlu” ("Son of Spring"), “Meşel” ("The Torch"), “Kecil Qapısı” ("Gate of Kecil"), “Sabiqler” ("The Formers"), and also prepared the scenario for “Solmaz Bir Bahar Gibi” ("Like an Unwaning Spring"). He edited for films such as “Onun Belalı Sevgisi” ("His Nasty Love"), “Qaynana” ("Mother In Law"), “Geceniz Xeyre Qalsın" ("Good Night"), as well as TV series “Adı Senin, Dadı Menim” (“Name is Yours, Taste is Mine"). All his works were loved and highly appreciated by the people. In this study, at first the concept humor is discussed, and then information is presented about the famous master of humor Seyfettin Dağlı’s life, literary personality and humor activities, of which he is the most faithful and successful developers of Azerbaijan humor tradition, which started with the “Molla Nasreddin” magazine in XXth century. The main source of this study is the comedy “Adı Senin, Tadı Benim” (“Name is Yours, Taste is Mine"), which was written in 1963. This comedy is based on real life. Yet at the beginning of the play, the author indicates that the play’s topic is derived from the period of his life time, by saying “the events are happening in one of the cities in today’s Azerbaijan”. This comedy consists of three parts and describes the real life. In his sample comedy, he narrates the unjustice and shortcomings of his time with humorous language and tries to find solutions.
