Values reflect the lifestyle of the people who make up society. In order to move confidently into the future and create a virtuous generation, learning values must be carried out systematically and effectively, without leaving it to chance. An understanding in which only mental and psychomotor skills are given to students throughout their education life will cause individuals who create the society to not have affective skills such as interests, attitudes, values, etc. Therefore, the formation of social unity and solidarity and the determination of common goals will become difficult or even impossible. The current situation requires values education to be carried out in schools as part of a plan and program. This can only be achieved through the assimilation of subjects and concepts related to the education of values by teachers and administrators. Teachers who view values as part of their roles definitely influence student value judgments.
This study aimed to determine the importance of the roles of teachers in the values education practices given in educational institutions. The issues like the importance of the students' qualifications in terms of values, the values to be gained to the students, skills that should teachers have were examined within the scope of the study. In addition, within the framework of the study, it was determined that taking into account the concept of value education when defining the goals of educational programs is very effective in obtaining maximum efficiency from students, and for this reason the role of the teacher becomes more significant in terms of the effectiveness and consistency of the practices of education of values applied to students.
