Abdurrahim Bey Hakverdiyev who was mentored by Mirza Fethali Ahundzâde, the founder of the Modern Azerbaijan theatre of 20th century, had a very important role on development of Azerbaijan Theatre. Hakverdiyev who rote many stories in addition to hi a dramas, started his literary creation at the end of 19th century. The worked named “Yeyersen Kaz Etini Görersen Lezzetini” is known his first drama. Beside this drama, Hakverdiyev wrote like “Ağa Mehemmed Şah Kaçar”, “Peri Cadu”, “Dağılan Tifak”, “Aç Herifler”, “Kırmızı Karı”, “Heyalet”, “Köhne Dudman”, “Ağaç Gölgesinde”. Hakverdiyev who wrote 25 dramas during his art life about 40 year-old has been taken as a model by next generations in the art of theater. After completing his education in Russia he came to Baku in the early part of 20th century and he created “The Theatre Company of Muslims” by gathering disorganized actors there. The first plays of Ahundzâde and other foreign dramatists were, for the first time, staged by his directing. Within that particular period, he played a crucial role on training of new actors. Established Soviet Union in Azerbaijan, he was given important missions in the field of theatre. Hakverdiyev, who was appointed as the management to the department of culture in the Commissariat of Public Enlightenment, also worked as an inspector in state theatres. Therefore he made some bureaucratic contributions to reviving of Azerbaijan theatre. In addition to his literary works, he wrote many articles entitled “Müselmanlarda Teatr”, “Peri Cadu Haqqında Qeydler”, “Artistilik Seneti Hakkında” and “Azerbaycanda Teatr”.
