This study has discussed the fishery subject in the Childir province between late 16th and early of 17th centuries, according to the records of the “Georgia Province Great Book” which dates back to 1595 and the “Short (Ijmal) of Çıldır Province” which dates back to 1590-1622. Furthermore, the study has analyzed the fish tax which was collected from state`s sanjaks under the name of “Fish Hunting Tax” based on the books, which were mentioned above. This article has also investigated about provisions of fish tax (ushr) and fish trade in the records of the Ottoman. This study also gives information about the region's rivers and lakes. Evliya Çelebi and Katip Çelebi's ideas on fishing and fishermen are also included.
