Karadeniz International Scientific Journal adopts the principles of academic integrity and compliance with the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. All authors who submit manuscripts to the journal are deemed to declare that their work is original, that proper citation rules have been followed, and that the work does not contain any ethical violations.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the use of ideas, data, text, visuals, or other academic content belonging to others without proper attribution and presenting them as original work.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Direct copying of text without citation
  • Use of ideas, findings, or conclusions without proper attribution
  • Unauthorized use of figures, tables, or data
  • Paraphrasing without proper citation
  • Reuse of previously published work without appropriate citation (self-plagiarism)

2. Plagiarism Prevention Policy

All submissions are screened using similarity detection software before being included in the evaluation process.

Within this scope:

  • Authors are responsible for providing accurate, complete, and proper citations for all sources used
  • Submitted manuscripts must contain original academic contributions
  • All manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software (e.g., İntihal.Net and/or iThenticate)
  • The similarity rate alone is not a decisive criterion; the evaluation is carried out by the editor considering the nature and context of the similarity
  • Manuscripts with high similarity rates may be returned to the author for revision or rejected directly

3. Consequences of Plagiarism Detection

If plagiarism or any ethical violation is detected, the journal reserves the right to take the following actions:

  • Termination of the evaluation process or rejection of the manuscript
  • Publication of a retraction or correction for already published articles
  • Notification of the authors’ affiliated institutions
  • Communication with relevant indexing bodies and academic institutions when necessary

All procedures are conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics.

4. Plagiarism Detection Tools

The following tools are used for similarity analysis in the journal:

  • İntihal.Net
  • iThenticate (when necessary)

The editorial board may use additional software, methods, or expert opinions when deemed necessary.

5. Ethical Commitment

Karadeniz International Scientific Journal adopts academic integrity as a fundamental principle and applies a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism and all forms of ethical misconduct.

Evaluation and enforcement processes are conducted:

  • Transparently
  • Consistently
  • In accordance with international ethical standards
