1. Introduction

Karadeniz International Scientific Journal is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that does not receive regular financial support from any institution or organization.

The primary aim of the journal is to promote high-quality academic research in the field of social sciences and to strengthen scientific communication. In this context, the journal follows a transparent, ethical, and internationally compliant Article Processing Charge (APC) policy.

2. Fee Policy

2.1. General Principles

All articles published in the journal are freely accessible to readers. An Article Processing Charge (APC) is required from authors for manuscripts that are accepted for publication.

Important Note:
Editorial evaluation and peer review processes are not dependent on any form of payment. All submissions are evaluated solely based on scientific quality, originality, and ethical standards.

2.2. Publication Fee and Scope

A publication fee of 2500 TL is charged for articles accepted for publication in the Karadeniz International Scientific Journal.

This fee covers the following services:

  • Management and execution of editorial processes
  • Coordination of the peer review process
  • Technical editing, typesetting, and publication preparation
  • DOI assignment and creation of metadata in accordance with international standards
  • Online publication of the article in open access format
  • Digital archiving and long-term preservation

The journal is a non-profit publication, and all revenue is used solely to ensure the sustainability of the publication processes.

2.3. Page Limit and Additional Charges

The manuscript (including appendices and references) must not exceed 23 pages.

If this limit is exceeded, authors will first be asked to shorten the manuscript to comply with the page limit.

If shortening is not possible, an additional fee of 100 TL per extra page will be charged.

Additional charges are communicated to the author after acceptance and are not applied without the author’s explicit approval.

2.4. Payment Process

The publication fee is requested only after the manuscript has been accepted.

Payment details and process information are officially communicated to the author(s) after the acceptance decision.

2.5. Refunds and Waivers

The publication fee is collected after acceptance and is non-refundable once the publication process has started.

However, if the publication process is canceled by the journal due to a technical or editorial error, the fee will be refunded to the author.

Authors with limited financial resources may apply for a discount or a full waiver of the publication fee. Such requests are evaluated by the editorial board and are handled independently of the scientific evaluation process.

3. Transparency and Ethical Compliance

Karadeniz International Scientific Journal implements its APC policy in accordance with the following international standards:

  • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) – Principles of Transparency and Best Practice
  • The principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics

Editorial decisions are not influenced by financial considerations.
