In this study, a group of Ionic capitals identified in Sinope Ancient City in Paphlagonia Region were examined and determination of the typology of all these capitals, what kind of structures they belong to and dating. All of these capitals, which have a distinctive group with undecorated abacus, unlined volute and three egg kymation, have different pulvinus and balteus decorations on their side faces. Although the samples have the same typological characteristics, the differences in workmanship and the richness of decoration observed in the details provide important clues about the presence of an important local workshop or at least the skilled craftsmen who can knowingly apply the popular architectural practices and ornaments of the period.
Söz konusu bu çalışmada Paphlagonia Bölgesi'nde yer alan Sinope Antik kenti içerisinde tespit edilmiş olan bir grup İon başlığı incelenmiş olup tüm bu başlıkların tipolojilerinin belirlenmesi, hangi tür yapılara ait olabileceği ve tarihlendirilmesi gibi konulara yer verilmiştir. Tümü bezemesiz abakuslu, astarsız volütlü ve üç yumurtalı kymationa sahip olmalarıyla belirgin bir grup oluşturan bu başlıkların yan yüzleri birbirinden farklı pulvinus ve balteus bezemelerine sahiptir. Örnekler aynı tipolojik özelliklere sahip olsalar da detaylarda gözlemlenen işçilik farklılıkları ve bezeme zenginliği, kentte önemli bir yerel atölyenin ya da en azından dönemin popüler mimari uygulamalarını ve bezemelerini bilerek uygulayabilen yetenekli ustaların varlığı konusunda önemli ipuçları barındırmaktadır.
