Karadeniz International Scientific Journal upholds the principles of ethics, transparency, and academic responsibility in scholarly publishing. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning tools must comply with these principles and be conducted in a transparent and responsible manner.

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors are required to clearly and explicitly disclose any use of AI-based tools in the preparation of their manuscript.

This disclosure should be included in an appropriate section of the manuscript (e.g., Methods, Acknowledgements, or a dedicated “AI Usage Statement”).

Authorship and Responsibility

AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

Full responsibility for the content of the manuscript remains with the author(s).

Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of any content generated with the assistance of AI tools.

Acceptable Use

AI tools may be used for:

  • Language editing and proofreading
  • Improving academic writing
  • Supporting data analysis

Prohibited and Restricted Use

The following practices are considered ethical violations:

  • Using AI-generated content without proper disclosure
  • Presenting AI-generated outputs as original research findings
  • Using AI for data fabrication, manipulation, or falsification
  • Sharing confidential peer review materials with AI tools

Editorial Process

Editors and reviewers may request additional clarification regarding AI use when necessary.

If AI use is found to violate ethical standards, the manuscript may be rejected or retracted if already published.

Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors:

  • Must not share confidential materials with AI tools
  • Must not rely on AI as a primary decision-making authority
  • May only use AI tools as supportive instruments

Ethical Compliance

This policy is aligned with international ethical standards and the guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
