M. Necati Sepetçioğlu’nın “Çatı” romanı Osmanlı’nın kuruluş döneminin Osman Bey devrini ele alarak, göçmen Türk aşiretlerinin yerleşik hayata geçişlerini ve bu geçiş sırasındaki ruh hallerini, yeni yerleştikleri Bilecik-Söğüt bölgesindeki hayat şartlarına alışma hikâyelerini anlatır.Çatı, romanında yatay düzlemde sözü geçen olaylar anlatılırken, dikey düzlemde Türk milletinin değerler sistemi çeşitli semboller ve kavramlar aracılığı ile okura sezdirilir. Anlatının gerçek yapısını açığa çıkardığı bu semboller ve kavramlar ele alınarak değerler sistemi açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca roman yapı bakımından ele alınarak, romanı oluşturan unsurlar ve bu unsurların ardında yatan stilistik nedenler tespit edilmek istenmiş, daha sonra bu nedenlerin psikolojik ve felsefi arka planları aydınlatılmaya çalışılmıştır.
M. Necati Sepetçioğlu's Çatı (Roof) novel discusses Osman Bey's period of
establishment of the Ottoman Empire and tells the stories of the immigrant Turkish
tribes getting used to the living conditions in the Bilecik-Söğüt region, where they
settled, and their moods during this transition.
While the events mentioned in the horizontal plane of the Roof are described,
the value system of the Turkish nation in the vertical plane is detected by means of
various symbols and concepts. These symbols and concepts, which are revealed by
the real structure of the narrative, have been handled and the system of values is
explained.
It is also aimed to determine the elements forming the novel and the stylistic
reasons behind these elements by taking the novel structure into consideration.
Then, the psychological and philosophical background of the analysis is
illuminated. why this has been tried to be illuminated.
