Evaluation Process

  • Articles submitted to Black Sea Journal are controlled in terms of suitability for publication rules and principles of the Journal, writing format and rules by the editors within 1-2 weeks. Those evaluated as improper are sent back to authors with explanatory notes.
  • Articles with unpaid fees are not processed until fees are deposited.
  • Articles accepted durng pre-control phase are sent to referees. The number of referess is 2. Referee recommendations can be made by discipline editors.
  • Referees are sent a note for accepting evaluation, and they are expected to reply positively or negatively within one week. Positively responding referees are asked to complete their evaluation within 15 days in accordance with the publication rules and principles and content. Referees can ask for an additional one week time for evaluation. Unless referees complete evaluation in the given time, they are changed. Evaluation process is carried out as blind-review procedure. Referees cannot contact authors directly; reports and evaluations are sent to authors through Journal’s management system. In this process, evaluation forms and referee reports are sent to authors through editors.
  • An article turned down by two referees is refused for publication. An article with one negative and one positive report can sent to a third referee for further evaluation or decided upon by the editors. The board of editors of Black Sea Journal have the right to decide when / in which issue and which articles to be turned down or published.
  • Journal editors can make minor changes in the article, not affecting the content of the article. They can also make recommendations to authors. All recommendations are presented to authors through the system.
