The REFLECTION of LABOR FORCE in TURKEY on PAINTING in the CONTEXT of SOCIAL REALISM

Melek AKYÜREK

The main purpose of this research is to examine the works created in contemporary art in Turkey, in the context of social realism, the force of labor. This research, which is prepared by using a descriptive scanning model, is also enriched by a literature review by examining written and visual sources at national and international level. The first part of the study discusses the emergence of social realism in the world. The social and socioeconomic impacts of these stages are also briefly mentioned. The emergence of social realism in Turkey and the study of the social events that led to this emergence were also discussed. In the other part, representatives of the social realistic movement in Turkish art, which is the main theme of the study, started to study the works in which they portray the force of labor. This review is important for revealing how the social realistic art movement reflects on the works of contemporary artists. The study was limited to works that depicted the labor force of Turkish painters who worked with the social realistic current during the period of 1914-1980. As a result of the research, the majority of the pictures of the workforce depicted with social realism are influenced by the social processes in which they are present and the artists are generally accepted.; it has been observed that they produce works by taking the opinion that" the labor power is not given the value it deserves " into the centre. Although they have experienced differences in structure, aesthetic concerns and content, it is not wrong to say that contemporary Turkish painters give their messages in a dramatic way. At the same time, the research is thought to contribute to the students and educators who receive art education in the field of art work review.
