EFFECTIVENESS OF PRESCHOOL EDUCATION ACTIVITIES CONCERNING THE PROCESS FOR CHILDREN TO UNDERSTAND THE 'AWARENESS OF TIME' SKILL

In the study, the effectiveness of preschool education activities concerning the process for the children of 48-60 months old to understand the “awareness of time” skill is examined. For this purpose, action research, which is one of the qualitative research methods, is used in order to discover the real picture underlying what is superficially seen and to achieve in-depth knowledge. The working group is a group of ten nursery class children attending a primary school in the city center of Giresun within the academic year 2012-2013. Data obtained by means of observation, semi-structured interviews and document review is recorded by camera and transferred to the computer. The records and documents which have been obtained are analyzed descriptively. According to the findings, it is concluded that children develop the skill of “awareness of time” through various preschool education activities such as Turkish, reading and writing, music, art and drama.
