 Mehmet AÇA

There is a great effect of European folklore studies on Turkish folklore studies from the beginning to the development. The folklore studying people from Turkey who had been following the European folklore studies in the aspects of the definition of folklore studies, the definition of what is included in it, the methods of the field research, the publishing methods of the compiled texts and the methods of defining genres, have been focusing the teories and methods of folklore studies in America and in Europe also have been bringing in theories and methods of English language in a fast and systematic way to the Turkish language for two decades. Bringing the new theories and methods in our language has been giving new perspectives, new subjects, new methods and new concepts to the reseaches of folklore studies in Turkey. Turkish folklorists who are following the developments in America and Europe as the way it has to be no matter it is late, same success can not be seen on them when it is the written studies in the Russian language and Turkish dialects. However bringing the written studies in the Russian language and Turkish dialects in our language will also help our folklore studies to gain new perspectives, theories, methods and concepts also new materials. That is why this paper argues why the written studies in the Russian language and Turkish dialects were brought in inadequately, on the other hand suggests ways to bring them in back again in an adequate way. Also this paper gets in touch with some traditional culture studies which need to translate to our language at the discussion and presentation of proposals. It has been seen that most of the studies touched here were written in Russian language.
