The article has different versions of “qut” word’s etymology. There are detailed analysis of using this notion at the modem Turkic Languages, possible versions of its’ origin, comparison with languages of the other groups, its’ functions and meanings at the Old-Turkic texts.
Linguistic facts are being compared with the ethnographic information, ritual folklore and other extra-linguistic facts. All of them bring us to the point that “qut” notion in its’ old meaning “soul, spirit, power of life” and in second new meaning “well-being, prosperity, good luck” was one of the most important part of traditional world outlooks for some of the nations in Central and Middle Asia, South Siberia and Ural Region.
